The idea of Newa Ghasa started with a simple thought — creating a place where people could enjoy real Newari food in a warm and welcoming setting. Its founder, Sujan Bajracharya, had spent years working in the hospitality industry both in Nepal and abroad. After gaining experience and running different restaurants in partnership, he decided to focus on building his own brand that would represent the taste and culture of his community.
In 2020, the first Newa Ghasa branch opened in Patan. From the beginning, it stood out for serving authentic Newari dishes that reminded people of home. The restaurant quickly became popular not just for its food, but also for the feeling it gave — friends and families gathering around traditional sets, enjoying snacks, and sharing stories just like in a Newari household.
With growing support, Newa Ghasa expanded. In 2021, a second branch opened in Sorhakhutte, bringing the same taste to a different part of the city. The following year, Sujan introduced a new restaurant in Basantapur under the name Perarachu, which in 2023 was converted into the third Newa Ghasa branch. This helped strengthen the brand name and identity. By 2024, the fourth branch was launched in Maharajgunj, making Newa Ghasa one of the few Newari restaurant chains to grow so quickly in the valley. Plans are already underway for another branch in 2025.
At the same time, Sujan also worked on expanding the brand beyond restaurants. In 2022, Frozen Box was started as a momo factory, producing frozen momos for homes and businesses. This step showed that Newa Ghasa was not just about serving food in restaurants, but also about making Newari flavors available to more people in new ways.
Today, Newa Ghasa is more than a restaurant. It is a place where tradition meets the present. The menu reflects recipes that have been enjoyed in Newari homes for generations, while the setting gives people the comfort of dining together in a modern space. The journey of Newa Ghasa is still continuing, but the heart of the brand remains the same — to serve authentic Newari food with warmth and hospitality.
If you want this version shortened for a menu or expanded into a formal company profile, tell me which and I’ll prepare it in the same style.
